CETEMPS in the Italian delegation to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai

As part of the United Nations Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP28), the activities of the CETEMPS Center of Excellence, the Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Science and Technology for Meteorology and Climate, (LMAST4MC) and two training courses for qualified personnel in Africa will be presented and Europe.

The CETEMPS Center of Excellence of the University of L’Aquila and the Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Science and Technology for Meteorology and Climate, (LMAST4MC), an inter-university degree between the University of L’Aquila and the University of Sapienza, will be part of the Italian delegation that will participate in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP28) currently being held in DUBAI.

The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has selected, among a large number of applications received, the proposal presented by the Air Force, CETEMPS, Sant’Anna di Pisa and CINR-IBE called “University and post-graduate training courses”. university, training and specialization courses” as a side event, to be hosted at the XXVIII Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP28 UAE), scheduled at Expo City Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

The proposal aims to contribute to capacity building and competence building in developing states and territories through compliance with WMO (World Meteorological Organization) regulations, education and training, regional support and research . The proposal will be presented on 9 December 2023 from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm in the Italy stand. The speech by Prof. Rossella Ferretti, Director of the CETEMPS Center of Excellence and President of the CAD (LMAST4MC), will focus on the presentation of CETEMPS, on the educational offer of the Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Science and Technology for Meteorology and Climate, (LMAST4MC) and on that relating to two training courses for qualified personnel in Africa (Region I as per the WMO subdivision) and in Europe (Region VI as per the WMO subdivision). The two courses are offered in collaboration with the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa and the CNR-IBE as part of the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) programs. In particular, the first relating to Region I is part of the ‘Early Warnings for All in Africa: Implementation of the African MultiHazards Early Warning and Early Action System’ programme.
